Women's swimming and diving takes second, men's sixth at Northeast Catholic

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed at the Northeast Catholic Invitational this Friday and Saturday. The women came in second place out of seven teams and the mean came in sixth.

The women finished with a team score of 522, 40 points ahead of third place Providence. Boston College won with a 1,280. Boston College also claimed the men's competition with a score of 1,193. The Holy Cross men finished with a 117.50.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • A team of Madalyn Piasecki, Emily Skilton, Rose Kelly, and Kayleigh Hoagland came in second in the 400 free relay with a 3:39.11.
  • Emily Sullivan took fourth place in the 400 IM with a 4:40.49.
  • The Crusaders saw multiple fifth place finishes including Rowan Burgess, Piasecki, Skilton, and Kelly in the 200 free relay (1:39.98), Nicoletta Kalavantis in the 400 IM (4:42.45) and the 200 fly (2:10.98), and Hoagland in the 200 free (1:56.18) and the 100 free (53.90).
  • Hoagland also had a sixth place finish in the 50 free with a 24.93, as did Sullivan in the 200 IM (2:11.87), Julianna Bender in the 200 breast (2:32.91), and Jordyn Vandergrift in the 3-meter dive (144.35).
  • Vandergrift also finished seventh in the 1-meter dive with a score of 175.05.
  • Katy Saladin, Bender, Brianna Larnard, and Hoagland took seventh in the 200 medley relay with a 1:53.26.
  • Bender and Leah Zogby each finished in seventh of the 100 breast (1:11.08) and the 1000 free (11:07.11) respectively.
  • Nathan Kramer, John Nascimben, Michael Brennan, and Ben Fox claimed seventh in the 200 medley relay with a 1:39.97.
  • Nascimben also took ninth in the 100 breast (1:01.19) and 11th in the 200 breast (2:17.05), while Kramer came in 10th in the 100 back (56.14).
  • Nascimben, Christopher Cerulli, Ben Vesey, and Brennan came in 11th in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:31.64.
  • Matthew Shea, Christian Realbuto, Kramer, and Fox finished in 11th in the 400 free relay with a 3:21.17.
