NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Junior
Kat Anticev and junior
Devin Brindle both won two events, to lead the Holy Cross women's swimming and diving team to a 163-135 victory over Iona at the Hynes Center Pool. The Crusaders improve to 1-2 on the season, while the Gaels fall to 4-1 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Anticev won the 1,000-yard freestyle in a personal best time of 10:25.81, in addition to placing first in the 500-yard freestyle (5:06.72).
• Brindle claimed first place in both the 100-yard freestyle (51.58) and the 100-yard butterfly (56.22).
• Sophomore
Nora Herbstzuber had personal best times in both the 100-yard breaststroke (first place / 1:04.74) and the 200-yard breaststroke (second place / 2:25.05).
• Sophomore
Brenna Short won the one-meter diving with an NCAA Zone qualifying score of 281.25, while freshman
Jillian James took first place in the three-meter diving (241.75).
• Junior
Megan Nelson finished first in the 200-yard butterfly (2:06.74), and senior
Nora Smillie came in first in the 50-yard freestyle (24.09).
• The team of Smillie, senior
Ainsley Nalen, junior
Courtney Boghosian and Brindle won the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:32.18.
• Also setting new personal bests for the Crusaders were sophomore
Lily Mitchell (1,000-yard freestyle / 10:38.27), sophomore
Ellie Reinhart (200-yard individual medley / 2:09.87) and sophomore
Samantha Schwarting (1,000-yard freestyle / 10:46.05).
