Women's swimming and diving wins Worcester City Championship, men take second

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross swimming and diving teams competed at the Worcester City Championship this weekend. The women came in first with a score of 1,152 and the men came in second out of four schools with an 831.

HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Emily Sullivan won three events and was named Female Swimmer of the Meet. She took first in the 200 IM (2:11.22), the 200 breast (2:30.07), and set a pool record in the 400 IM (4:34.43).
  • Abbey Bryant was named Female Diver of the Meet as she won the three meter dive with a 230.02.
  • Kayleigh Hoagland was a part of seven first place finishes including three individual events and four relays. She won the 200 free (1:57.39), the 50 free (24.77), and the 100 free (54.10). She also swam the anchor legs in four relays that took first place including the 400 medley relay (4:03.86), the 200 free relay (1:40.17), the 200 medley relay (1:52.55), and the 400 free relay (3:38.88).
  • Joining Hoagland in those relays was Katy Saladin, Julianna Bender, and Brianna Larnard in the 400 medley, Maddie Piasecki, Fiona Walsh, and Emily Skilton in the 200 free, Lauren Moran, Bender, and Piasecki in the 200 medley, and Rowan Burgess, Piasecki, and Skilton in the 400 free.
  • Bender also took first in the 100 breast (1:10.35) and Saladin did the same in the 200 back (2:11.33).
  • Leah Zogby won both the 1000 free (10:56.40) and the 500 free (5:22.08).
  • Isabella Miko-Rydzaj claimed first in the 200 fly (2:11.67) and Jordyn Vandergrift took first in the one meter dive (246.82).
  • John Nascimben was involved in three first place finishes, two individually and one as part of a relay team. He won the 100 breast (1:02.19) and the 200 breast (2:17.32). Along with Nathan Kramer, Michael Brennan, and Matthew Shea, the Crusaders won the 400 medley relay (3:39.71).
  • Brennan also won the 200 fly (2:00.51) and Kramer took the 200 back (1:59.90).
  • Ben Vesey won two events, the 200 IM (2:03.59) and the 500 free (5:00.66).
