WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's hockey team will begin 2019 with a home-and-home series against the University of Connecticut on Jan. 4 and 5.
Scouting the Huskies
• UConn is led by Cartherine Crawley and Natalie Snodgrass' 15 points. Crawley has recorded six goals and nine assists, while Snodgrass has found the back of the net five times and assisted on 10.
• Morgan Fisher has started 16 games in goal for the Huskies and has posted a .926 save percentage and a 2.19 goals against average.
• UConn has converted on 20.9% (14-for-67) of its power plays and killed 89.1% (41-for-46) of its penalties.
Last Time Against Connecticut
• In their first meeting this season, the Crusaders fell to the Huskies, 7-2, in Storrs.
• Holy Cross took the early lead in the contest when Amanda Kewer scored in just the third minute of play. UConn answered back by scoring the next three goals to go up 3-1.
• Julie Matthias got one back for the Crusaders half way through the second period to climb back to down one at 3-2. But it was all UConn the rest of the way as the Huskies scored four in a row to end the game.
• Before this game, Holy Cross had been 4-0 all-time against UConn, the last matchup coming back in 2001.
Talking Points
• The Crusaders picked up their first Hockey East win in program history in their first-ever upset of a top-five team when they knocked off then-No. 5 Northeastern, 5-3, last Friday, Nov. 30 at the Hart Center.
• Matthias led Holy Cross with four points in the game, coming from four assists. She was named Hockey East Co-Player of the Week for her performance.
• Rachel Moore scored her first and second collegiate goals to help the Crusaders to the historic win. Carlie Magier, Maeve Reilly, and Kewer all also found the back of the net against the Huskies, with Antonia Matzka, Emma Lange, and Magier picking up assists.
• Jada Brenon stopped 34 shots in the contest and earned ckSmithSuperior Crusader of the Week honors for her efforts.
• Magier now leads the team with five goals and six points. Matthias and Lange are tied with a team-high four assists.
• Lange is second in the Hockey East with 47 blocked shots.
Recapping Last Time Out
• Holy Cross ended 2018 with a single game at then-No. 8 Providence.
• The Crusaders fell, 5-1, despite the fourth goal of the season for Reilly and 26 saves from Brenon.

• The Crusaders will host Maine for a pair of games next weekend, on Saturday, Jan 12 and Sunday, Jan. 13, both at 1:05 p.m.
