ERIE, Pa. – The Holy Cross men's hockey team was defeated by Mercyhurst, 4-0, on Saturday night.
The Lakers (15-10-4, 12-7-4 AHC) scored early to start the game and continued to take a 3-0 lead in the second period. Despite the Crusaders (12-13-7, 11-9-6 AHC) outshooting the Lakers for the first two period, Holy Cross found themselves down 3-0 going into the third period. Mercyhurst added a third period goal to take the game, 4-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
1-0 MU (1st, 0:31, EV): Mercyhurst's Johnathan Charbonneau snuck one in on the back door after a pass from Joshua Lammon from the corner.
2-0 MU (2nd, 3:40, EV): From a scrum on the left side of the net, Taylor Best passed across the slot to Derek Barach on the back door.
3-0 (2nd, 13:14, PP): Best passed from the point to Charbonneau just blow the faceoff circle, who one-timed an off angle shot to beat Berrafato.
4-0 (3rd, 3:58, PP): Zach Todd threw a shot towards the goal from the center point that Derek Barach tipped in.
