WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's hockey team will take on Merrimack in a home-and-home series this weekend. The Crusaders will travel to North Andover on Friday night for a 7:00 p.m. start, before welcoming the Warriors to Worcester on Saturday at 7:05 p.m.
Talking Points
• Amanda Kewer leads the team with four points.
• Carlie Magier and Kewer are tied for the team lead with two goals.
• Danielle Doherty and Kewer share the team high of two assists.
• Emma Lange is second in Hockey East with 14 blocked shots. Hannah Gillis is tied for seventh with 12.
Recapping Last Weekend
• The Crusaders faced Northeastern and Maine for the first time in program history.
• On Friday, Holy Cross hosted No. 8 Northeastern and held the Huskies close for two periods of play. Freshman Carlie Magier scored her second goal of the season to help the Crusaders stay within one goal going into the final period.
• Holy Cross traveled to Orono on Sunday to take on a tough Maine squad. The Crusaders lost the game, but held the advantage in faceoffs, 33-29.
Scouting the Warriors
• Merrimack came to the Hart Center on Oct. 27 and beat Holy Cross, 5-0. The Crusaders had just taken on then-No. 6 Boston College the night before, so this time around they should be more rested.
• The Warriors are led this season by Katelyn Rae's 11 points from eight goals and three assists. Mikyla Grant-Mentis is second on the team with three goals and six assists for nine points.
• Samantha Ridgewell has started all 10 games in goal for Merrimack. She has posted a 1.09 goals against average with a .961 save percentage.
• Merrimack received five votes in the USA Today/UDA Hockey Magazine poll this week. The Warriors defeated Maine on Friday, Nov. 2, 5-1.
Linemate Success
• Maeve Reilly, Kewer, and Doherty have been linemates for the majority of games this season and have seen a good amount of success together recording three goals and four assists.
• Kewer leads the team with four points on two goals and two assists, Doherty has recorded two assists, and Reilly scored her first goal of the season at Brown.
Freshman Impact
• Four freshman have recorded points so far this season for the Crusaders. Magier and Sommer Ross lead the class with two points each. Magier has scored two goals and Ross has a goal and an assist.
• Lange and Skye Ziehwein have each registered one assist on the year.
