POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Holy Cross men's hockey team fell, 3-1, at Clarkson on Oct. 20. The Crusaders tallied a late power play goal but could not erase the two-goal deficit from the second period. Erik Gordon made 23 saves in the game. The Crusaders fall to 1-3-0 and Clarkson improves to 2-2-0.
The Crusaders and Golden Knights skated to a scoreless first period. Holy Cross tallied 11 shots on goal and Clarkson had 16. The Crusaders also killed off three penalties in the opening frame.
In the second period, Clarkson recorded a two-goal lead. Early in the period, the Golden Knights scored on a back door play to take the lead, followed by a power play goal near the mid-way point. Holy Cross posted seven shots to Clarkson's 11.
Midway through the third period, the Crusaders capitalized on a five-on-three opportunity when Charlie Barrow struck from the point for his second goal in as many days.
The Crusaders battled offensively in the third period, with 11 shots on goal to Clarkson's four, but could not even the game.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
1-0 CLK (2nd – 3:06): Grant Cooper scored on the back door after a pass across the slot.
2-0 CLK (2nd – 10:15): Devin Brosseau scored on the power play by knocking in a cross-slot pass on the power play.
2-1 HC (3rd – 10:37): On a five on three, Spencer Trapp sent the puck below the goal line to Matt Barry. Barry circled the zone and pass back across the point to Charlie Barrow for a one-timer.
3-1 CLK (3rd – 19:28): Clarkson tallied an empty netter.
NOTES & NUMBERS:

- The Crusaders went 1-3 on the power play.
