The Crusaders head out on their first road trip of the 2018-19 season to the North Country. Holy Cross will take on St. Lawrence on Oct. 19 at 7:00 p.m. and Clarkson on Oct. 20 at 7:30 p.m.
Talking Points
- The Crusaders scored 10 goals in their opening weekend from eight different goal scorers.
- Matt Barry leads the team through the first two games of action with two goals and two assists. Barry tallied a penalty shot goal and a power play goal.
- Tommy Nixon recorded his first start in goal since his freshman season and made 30 saves to lead the team to its first victory.
- Nixon's efforts over the weekend earned him Atlantic Hockey's first Goalie of the Week nod.
- Mitch Collett has also tallied two goals on the season. Collett's first goal came as a rare delayed penalty goal after blocking a shot in the defensive zone.
- In the young season, the Crusaders have capitalized on two of their seven power play opportunities for conversion percentage of 28.6.
- After a burst of offense over the first weekend series against Canisius, the Crusaders are averaging 5.0 goals per game.
Freshman Impact
- In Holy Cross' opening weekend series with Canisius, seven freshman saw significant ice time.
- Along with Barry, Anthony Vincent found his way onto the score sheet with one goal and one assist.
- Defenseman Matt Slick also tallied his first collegiate point, with an assist.
- Erik Gordon played over 56 minutes in goal, making 21 saves.
- Will Conley, Ryan Leibold, and Errka Vänskä also played in both games.
Scouting St. Lawrence
- The Saints have kicked off the season to a 0-2-0 record after a weekend series with Maine. St. Lawrence fell 3-1 and 4-1 in Orono.
- On Oct. 12, St. Lawrence's lone goal came on the power play from Philip Alftberg.
- Ryan Garvey scored for the Saints on Oct. 13.
- Arthur Brey has played in both games and made 69 saves on the season. Brey holds a .908 save percentage and 3.50 goals against average. Last season, Brey played in 31 games and held a .906 save percentage and 3.35 goals against average.
- In the 2017-2018 the Saints held a 8-27-2 record and 3-18-1 mark in the ECAC.
- Jacob Pritchard returns as the team's leading scorer, with 20 points last season.
Last Time Against St. Lawrence
- The Saints and Crusaders have only faced off once before. On Oct. 20, 2000 Holy Cross fell to St. Lawrence, 5-1.
Scouting Clarkson
- After winning its exhibition game, Clarkson was swept at Penn State on Oct. 12 (L, 4-3) and Oct. 13 (L, 5-1).
- Nine Golden Knights have recorded at least one point through two games, and three lead the team with two points.
- In the 2017-18 season, Sheldon Rempal returns as the team's leading scorer (23-23-46), but has yet to play a game this season.
- Jake Kielly, who saw the majority of time in the 2017-18 season, has started the season with 58 saves for a .879 save percentage and 4.07 goals against average.
- Last season, Clarkson skated to a 23-11-6 overall record and 12-5-5 mark in ECAC action.

Recapping the 2017-2018 Season
- The Crusaders finished the 2017-2018 season with a 13-16-7 overall record and 12-10-6 mark in league play.
- Michael Laffin returns as the team's leading scorer with 13 goals and 15 assists for 28 points.
- The Crusaders' graduated their top two scorers.
- Only one goaltender saw time last season, Paul Berrafato, who the Crusaders also lost to graduation.
- Holy Cross averaged 2.69 goals per game and 2.78 goals against per game.
New Faces
- The Crusaders have brought in eleven new faces to the 2018-19 roster.
- At forward, Berard has brought in: Conner Jean, Ryan Leibold, Matt Barry, Will Conley, Anthony Vincent, and Errka Vänskä.
- Barry and Conley both received honors from their respective junior leagues. Barry was selected to the All-USHL third team and Conley was selected to the AJHL North Division All-Star team.
- Bryce Dolan and Matt Slick join the defensive core.
