The Lead: The Holy Cross women's track and field team opened the weekend action at day one of the 2017 New England Outdoor Championship on Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Junior Elizabeth Lombardo set a new personal record in the 5,000-meter run with her time of 17:54.29.
- Freshmen Morgan Sanders (15:52) and Taylor Gensler (15:56) ran in the 100-meter hurdles. Gensler later leaped for a distance of 4.91 meters in the long jump.
- Senior Alliyah Veilleux competed in the hammer throw and notched a distance of 47.78 meters.
- Senior co-captain Alexa Eldracher led the way for the Crusaders in the long jump, clearing a distance of 5.23 meters.
- At the end of day one, MIT leads the way with 28 points.
