The Lead: The Holy Cross women's track and field team competed at both the Yale and Tiger Invitationals on Saturday, Jan. 14, as junior Zoe Matherne qualified for the ECAC Indoor Championship in the one mile run with her personal best time of 4:55.02 for a second place finish in Boston.
HOW IT HAPPENED AT THE YALE INVITATIONAL:
- Three members of the team including senior Allison Maier (60 and 200 meter dash), junior Stefanie McArdle (500-meter dash) and freshman Allison McArdle (1,000-meter and one mile run) competed at the Yale Invitational.
- S. McArdle ran for third place out of 11 runners in the 500-meter dash for a time of 1:20.25.
HOW IT HAPPENED AT THE TIGER INVITATIONAL:
- With her one mile time of 4:55.02, Matherne captured second place and qualified for the ECAC Indoor Championship.
- Posting two New England qualifying times, sophomore Isabella DiMare took first place in both the 60-meter hurdles (9.10) and 60-meter dash (7.91).
- In the high jump senior co-captain Jennifer Kimball placed first overall, clearing a height of 1.55 meters.
- Sprinting just behind DiMare, junior Alanna Hitscherich took third place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.45.
- In the 3,000-meter run, senior co-captain Mary Welsh captured third place, recording a time of 10:40.75.
- Juniors Meghan Dietter (2:23.54) and Claire Turner (2:23.77) took second and third place, respectively in the 800-meter run.
- Senior Cassandra Kobelski tossed the shot put a season-best 11.61 meters to place second.
