2009 Graduate Alejandro Melean To Play In COPA America

WORCESTER, Mass. – Former Holy Cross men's soccer player Alejandro Meleán (Class of 2009) will represent Bolivia in COPA America Centenario hosted by the United States. One of Bolvia's games will be on Friday, June 10, against Chile at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. This is the 45th COPA America but the first time the tournament has been played outside of South America.

Meleán has made 12 appearances with the Bolivian National Team including starting versus Team USA in a friendly in Kansas City on May 28. He has also played in World Cup qualifiers. Meleán currently plays his club soccer in Bolivia for Oriente Petrolero.

Meleán was a first team All-Patriot League selection as a Crusader in 2007 and 2008. He also earned second team All-Mid Atlantic Region accolades as a senior in 2008. Meleán received 2008 Patriot League All-Tournament honors.   

Bolivia will play in Group D and take on Panama (FOX Sports 1) on Monday, June 6 in Orlando at 7:00 p.m., Chile (FOX) on Friday, June 10 in Foxborough at 7:00 p.m. and Argentina (FOX Sports 1) on Tuesday, June 14 in Seattle at 10:00 p.m. (ET). The top two teams from each of the four groups will advance to the quarterfinals.
