The Lead: The Crusaders earned a first place finish in the 4x800 m relay, as the Crusaders currently sit fourth in the overall standings following day one of the Patriot League Outdoor Championship.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The relay team of sophomore Kate Spitler (Marshfiled, Mass.), sophomore Zoe Matherne (Camp Hill, Pa.), junior Rachel Sowinski (Mountain Top, Pa.) and senior Catherine Gildea (Milford, Conn.) won the 4x800 m relay, finishing with an overall time of 8:56.92 which qualifies them for ECACs.
  • Freshman Lauren Rasmus (Atlanta, Ga.) is currently fifth in the women's heptathlon with 2525 points through four events, while junior Jennifer Kimball (South Weymouth, Mass.) is sixth with 2484 points.
  • In the 10k race, sophomore Annie Sullivan (Southborough, Mass.) placed fourth overall, recording a time of 36:53.55.
  • Freshman Sarah Friess (Castleton on Hudson, N.Y.) placed 10th in the 100 m dash prelims at 12.49, and third in the event semi-finals with a time of 12.29 to qualify her for tomorrow's finals.
  • Sophomore Tori Zamarra (Manalapan, N.J.) was the top runner for Holy Cross in the 100 m hurdle prelims, finishing 13th in a time of 15.29.
  • Freshman Alexandra Curtin (Winchester, Mass.) placed ninth in the 200 m dash prelims with a time of 25.46, narrowly missing the cut-off to advance to the next round.
  • Kimball placed 16th in the javelin throw, recording a distance of 30.11.
  • In the pole vault, junior Samantha Speroni (Palos Verdes Peninsula, Calif.) placed sixth overall with a height of 3.55 m.
  • Curtin placed sixth overall in the long jump, recording a distance of 5.57 m.
  • In the hammer throw, junior Aaliyah Veilleux (Winslow, Maine) placed 18th with a distance of 34.62 m.
