The Lead: Four Crusaders earned victories in individual events, as Holy Cross opened its 2016 outdoor season with a first place finish at the Central Connecticut Invitational.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Freshman Sarah Friess (Castleton on Hudson, N.Y.) placed third in the 100 m dash with a time of 13.19, and second in the 200 m dash with a time of 26.90.
- Senior Catherine Gildea (Milford, Conn.) finished second in the 800 m run with a time of 2:16.45, while sophomore Kate Spitler (Marshfield, Mass.) finished closely behind in third at 2:18.81.
- Sophomore Zoe Matherne (Camp Hill, Pa.) won the one mile run in a time of 5:03.76.
- Senior Melissa LaCoste (Amherst, N.H.) placed second in the high jump with a mark of 1.60 m.
- Sophomore Jamison Briggs (Keene, N.H.) earned the highest mark in the pole vault at 3.35 m.
- Sophomore Alanna Hitscherich (Sussex, N.J.) won the long jump with a distance of 5.34 m.
- Junior Alexa Eldracher (Woodbridge, Conn.) placed first in the triple jump at 11.38 m.

- The Crusaders are back in action next Saturday, April 9 as they head to Fairfax, Va. to compete in the Mason Spring Invitational.
