Women's Tennis Earns Third Straight Win With 8-1 Victory Over Wheaton

The Lead: The Holy Cross women's tennis team defeated Wheaton, 8-1, on Friday. This is the Crusaders' third straight win.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Crusaders took a 3-0 lead by winning the three doubles matches. Seniors Jaclyn Carroll (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Abby Henry (Wellesley, Mass.) won at No. 1 doubles, 9-7 after trailing 7-4.
  • The No. 2 doubles team of freshman Allison Reiling (Medham, N.J.) and sophomore Katie Elia (Erie, Pa.) won their match by an 8-3 score.
  • Junior Izzy Bagi (Branford, Conn.) and freshman Morgan McGuire (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) took the No. 3 doubles match, 8-1.
  • The Crusaders then won five of the six singles matches to secure the 8-1 victory.
  • Senior Cassy Deng (Eden Prairie, Minn.) won the No. 2 singles match, 6-2, 6-0, while Henry took the No. 3 singles match, 6-3, 6-4.
  • Elia won at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-4 and Bagi won the No. 5 singles 6-4, 6-4.
  • Freshman Caroline Kam (Stonington, Conn.) won the No. 6 singles match by a 6-4, 6-2 score.
