The Lead: The Holy Cross women's swimming and diving team opened its 2016 season, hosting the Holy Cross Pentathlon against Assumption on Saturday afternoon at the Hart Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Freshman Kayleigh Hoagland finished first overall in the pentathlon with a total time of 5:19.24, including times of 1:01.97 in the 100 backstroke, 1:17.11 in the 100 breaststroke, 1:00.091 in the 100 butterfly, 55.17 in the 100 freestyle and 1:04.08 in the 100 IM. She finished first overall in the butterfly, backstroke, freestyle and IM events.
- Junior Kelley Kraemer finished third overall and first for Holy Cross in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:12.41.
- Junior Nina Sparre posted the next best pentathlon finish for the Crusaders, taking the ninth overall spot with a total time of 5:34. She recorded times of 1:04.66 in the 100 backstroke, 1:15.69 in the 100 breaststroke, 1:08.96 in the 100 butterfly, 57.73 in the 100 freestyle and 1:06.96 in the 100 IM.
- Sparre, Hoagland and juniors Katie Conners and Maura Mullaney took first place for Holy Cross in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:43.60.
- Hoagland, Mullaney, Sparre and sophomore Caroline Body finished first overall for the Crusaders in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:56.77.
- Morgan Nicholls posted the top performance for Assumption in the pentathlon for a second-place finish with a total time of 5:22.16.
