- The Lead: The Providence women's tennis team earned the 7-0 victory over Holy Cross in a non-conference dual match on Wednesday afternoon at the Sinnott Family Tennis Facility.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Holy Cross sophomore Katie Elia (Erie, Pa.) nearly won her No. 5 singles match over Katherine DeNucci. DeNucci won the first set (6-3), as Elia claimed the second set (6-2). In the tiebreaking third set, however, DeNucci edged Elia, 10-8.
- Crusader No. 1 singles player senior Jaclyn Carroll (Tewksbury, Mass.) lost her match to Nicole Cyterski, 6-1, 6-1, while Holy Cross freshman No. 2 singles player Allison Reiling (Mendham, N.J.) fell in her match to Emma Burgess, 6-2, 6-3.
