THE BASICS:

• Regatta: IRA National Championship
• Date: Sunday, May 31, 2015
• Location: West Windsor, N.J. (Mercer Lake)
• The Lead: The varsity eight recorded a program-best 17th place finish as the Holy Cross men's rowing team concluded competition at the 113th Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championship on Sunday on Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J. The Crusaders placed 21st in the team competition out of 24 teams, while Washington won the championship.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The No. 18 nationally ranked varsity eight placed fifth in the third-level final out of six boats with a time of 5:48.609 to place 17th in the overall varsity eight competition out of 24 teams. The Crusaders defeated No. 14 Stanford (5:56.014), while No. 13 Dartmouth won the third-level final with a time of 5:43.054.
• The second varsity eight placed third in the fourth-level final out of three boats with a time of 6:16.274. The Crusaders placed 24th in the overall second varsity eight competition out of 24 teams.  
• The third varsity eight was seventh in the third-level final out of seven boats with a time of 6:09.568. The Crusaders placed 19th in the overall third varsity eight competition out of 19 boats.

BEYOND THE RESULTS:

• The Crusaders' 17th place finish was the best varsity heavyweight eight finish in the school's history. The previous top finish was 18th in 2006.

• Holy Cross Varsity Eight: J.T. Kearney (Coxswain), Vince LaMonte, T.J. Watts, Sam Poryanda, John Burke, Andrew McNamara, John Tanis, Anthony Criscitiello, Connor May.
• Holy Cross Second Varsity Eight: Christian Brooks (Coxswain), Jon Bachmann, Luke Graham, Christian Kerrigan, James Holland, Sean Horan, Keenan Moore, Joe Nolan, Tiarnan Doherty.
• Holy Cross Third Varsity Eight: Cally Hickey (Coxswain), Casey Norton, Chris Paul, Chris Mudrick, Zack Zaniewski, Brian Latu, Ted Langlois, Will Callif, Kyle Larkin.
