• The Lead: The Holy Cross women's tennis team dropped a trio of matches to Patriot League opponents on Friday and Saturday, March 20-21 at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center in West Point, N.Y. The Crusaders lost to Lafayette, 5-2, and Loyola Maryland, 7-0, on Friday, while they were topped by Army, 7-0, on Saturday.  

HOW IT HAPPENED (Lafayette):

• Holy Cross junior Jaclyn Carroll (Tewksbury, Mass.) earned the No. 2 singles point over Lafayette's Jordyn Spellberg in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. Carroll and senior Taylor Stathis (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.) also earned the No. 1 double victory over Caroline Nixon and Rocine Moschella, 8-5.
• The Crusaders clinched the doubles point, as junior Abby Henry (Wellesley, Mass.) and Katie Elia (Erie, Pa.) won their No. 2 doubles match over Gabby Montes and Lauren Tracy, 8-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Loyola Maryland):

• Elia and Henry were defeated in their No. 2 doubles match by Julie Clark and Nicole Eberle in a tiebreaking set, 8-7 (7-2).
• Carroll lost her No. 2 singles match to Amanda Lanciano, 6-1, 6-5, while Stathis was defeated in No. 1 singles by Megan Hahn, 6-0, 6-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Army):

• Stathis dropped her No. 1 singles match to Carolyn Pitman, 6-1, 6-1, while Stathis was defeated by Hayley O'Connor, 6-3, 6-0 in No. 2 singles.
• Elia lost her No. 5 singles match to Victoria Falk, 6-1, 6-1
