• The Lead: Sophomore Zoe Matherne (Camp Hill, Pa.) was the top runner for Holy Cross, as the Crusaders finished 11th overall at the Central Connecticut State Mini Meet.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Matherne finished 31st overall with a time of 10:50 in the varsity race.
• Junior Caroline Carr (Ridgefield, Conn.) was closeley behind in 39th, crossing the finish line with a time of 10:59.
• Other top runners for the Crusaders included sophomore Kate Spitler (Marshfield, Mass.), who finished 52nd with a time of 11:05, senior Catherine Gildea (Milford, Conn.), who finished 65th with a time of 11:20 and sophomore Erin Ahearn (Ringwood, N.J.) who finished 76th at 11:26.
• Central Connecticut's Brittany Mendelson finished first overall at 10:12, while Yale claimed first place at the meet.

BEYOND THE RESULTS:

• The men's varsity race included 113 runners from 17 competing schools.
