The Lead: Sophomore Alexa Eldracher (Woodbridge, Conn.) set new Holy Cross indoor record in the triple jump as six more Crusaders also set new career-highs in their events as the Holy Cross women's track and field team finished third of nine at the Joe Donahue games at the Reggie Lewis Center on Friday afternoon. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Senior co-captain Brianna Tabin (South Hadley, Mass.) went on to finish fifth overall at 7.62 seconds in the 60 meter dash. She also set a new career-high in the 200 meter dash at 25.35. 
• Eldracher had a record-breaking performance in the triple jump, finishing in second with a distance of 11.37 meters, breaking a Holy Cross record she previously set last year at 11.31 meters at the Patriot League Indoor Championship .
• Holy Cross had four top-five finishes in the 400 meter dash as freshmen Stefanie McArdle (South Glastonbury, Conn.) and Meghan Dietter (Sherman, Conn.) took fourth (59.52) and fifth (1:00.21) spots as junior Oona Wood (Williamstown, Mass.) took sixth (1:00.49) and senior Payton Shubrick (Springfield, Mass.) rounded out the top finishes with 1:00.72 and eighth place finish. 
• In the 500 meter run, senior co-captain Fiorella Johnson (Redding, Conn.) finished third at 1:21.17 and sophomore Victoria Stephens (Cranston, R.I.) came in eight at 1:23.17. 
• Sophomore Rachel Sowinski (Mountain Top, Pa.) took a second-place finish in the 1,000 meter run with a new career-best time of 2:57.26 as freshman Kate Spitler (Marshfield, Mass.) followed in ninth at 3:12.86.
• Both junior Caroline Carley (Barrington, Ill.) and sophomore Caroline Carr (Ridgefield, Conn.) clocked new career-best times in the one mile. Carley, placing second, finished at 4:59.27 as Carr followed in eighth with a time of 5:11.11. 
• Two more career-best times came in the 3,000 meter run and the 60 meter hurdles from sophomore Mary Welsh (Manhasset, N.Y.) and senior Mackenzie Arndt (Merrimack, Mass.). Welsh crossed the finish line in 11th at 10:41.60 as Arndt ran to a third-place finish and time of 9.17. 
• The 4 x 400 meter relay team comprised of Shubrick, Dietter, McArdle and Wood had the top Crusader relay finish, clocking a time of 4:00.74 and a third place finish. 
• In the field events, sophomore Jennifer Kimball (South Weymouth, Mass.) finished seventh in the high jump with a distance of 1.60 meters and senior co-captain Sarah Dahlstrom (Southborough, Mass.) followed in ninth (1.55m). 
• Senior co-captain Michelle McGahan (Acton, Mass.) led the way in the pole vault, finishing seconds and clearing a height of 3.45 meters with classmate Alexandra Parise (Pine Bush, N.Y.) following in third (3.45m), freshman Jamison Briggs (Keene, N.H.) in fourth (3.45m) and sophomore Samantha Speroni (Palos Verdes Peninsula, Calif) finishing sixth at 3.15 meters. 
• Following Eldracher in the triple jump was freshman Alanna Hitscherich (Sussex, N.J.) in fourth (11.25m), senior Marissa Romano (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) in ninth (10.61m) and classmate MaryGrace Brogioli (Wareham, Mass.) taking 10th (10.44m). 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

• Holy Cross finished third of nine teams with an overall team score of 104.5 points as Central Florida took the top spot with 129.5 points. 

UP NEXT 

• The Crusaders return to the track on Friday, Jan. 30 as they head to Boston, Mass. to take part in the Terrier Classic at 2:00 p.m.
