- The Lead: Holy Cross junior Abby Henry (Wellesley, Mass.) won the deciding singles match with a three-set, 3-6, 6-2, 7-5, victory to help lead the Crusaders to a 4-3 season-opening win over Assumption in non-conference women's tennis action on Thursday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Crusader senior Taylor Stathis (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.) earned the No. 1 singles win over Aida Vila, 7-5, 6-4, while Holy Cross junior Jaclyn Carroll (Tewksbury, Mass.) picked up the win in No. 2 singles over Hannah Riley, 6-3, 6-1.
- Holy Cross junior Cassy Deng (Eden Prairie, Minn.) won her No. 3 singles match in straight sets over Marie Black, 6-3, 6-2, while Henry defeated Kristen Carbone in No. 4 singles.
- The No. 1 doubles pair of Stathis and Carroll picked up the win over Vila and Riley, 8-3, but the Greyhounds earned wins in the two other doubles matches to pick up the point.
