• The Lead: The Holy Cross women's tennis team competed in the Connecticut College Singles and Doubles Tournament on Sunday, Oct. 5 in New London, Conn. on the campuses of Connecticut College and Coast Guard Academy.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The No. 3 doubles duo of junior Cassy Deng (Eden Prairie, Minn.) and sophomore Izzy Bagi (Branford, Conn.) earned an 8-2 win over Connecticut College in Flight B, but lost to Amherst in the finals, 8-1
• Juniors Rachael Studley (Lakeville, Mass.) and Isabel Doran (New York, N.Y.) won their No. 4 doubles match over Trinity, 9-8, in Flight C, but lost in the finals to Wesleyan, 8-0.
• Junior Abby Henry (Wellesley, Mass.) was defeated in her Flight C singles match, 6-0, 6-1, by Wesleyan, but earned the 6-1, 6-0 victory in the consolation match over Trinity.
• Freshman Katherine Elia (Erie, Pa.) picked up the 6-3, 6-4 win over Connecticut College in Flight C, but lost in the finals to Wesleyan, 6-0, 6-0.
• Bagi and Doran also went 1-1 in their respective Flight D and Flight E matches.

UP NEXT:

• Holy Cross will wrap up its 2014 fall season with the Rhode Island Doubles Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 11 in Kingston, R.I.
