Crusaders Set For George Washington Invitational

Men's Rowing Holy Cross Athletics

Men's Rowing Sweeps Rutgers

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – The Holy Cross men's rowing team swept all three races versus fellow EARC member Rutgers on Saturday on the Raritan River. The varsity eight, the second varsity eight and the freshman eight were all victorious. This follows last week's impressive performance as the Crusaders won three of four races versus Bucknell.

The varsity eight won the closest race of the competition as the Crusaders (5:48.5) defeated Rutgers (5:51.3). The second varsity eight (5:57.6) earned the win over Rutgers (6:08.2). The freshman eight (5:57.8) defeated Rutgers (6:17.2) and Rutgers "B" (6:40.6).

"It was a very exciting day with all of the Holy Cross boats winning," said head coach Todd Pearson. "Our program hit some important milestones with the victory. First and foremost, our freshman crew earned their first win of the season and I hope that they will continue to build speed as Sprints approach. Also, it marks the first time since 2007 that every boat on the team has won at least one race in the same season and the first-ever sweep of an EARC opponent. While today was great, we're ready to get back to work on Monday to try to get faster."

The Crusaders return to action on May 15 on Lake Quinsigamond when they will compete against some of the best teams in the nation at the Eastern Sprints.

Holy Cross varsity eight: Mary Carol Madigan (coxswain), Grant O'Connell, Mike Walker, Peter Prominski, Tom Gallant, Peter Dwyer, Kevin Moran, Colin Hayes, Pat Rapuano.
