WORCESTER, Mass.- Freshmen Kyle Miller (Woodbury, N.J.) led the Holy Cross scoring with a goal and a assist during his first career start as the men's soccer team defeated Manhattan, 4-0. The non-conference match-up gives the Crusaders their first season win.

Senior Marsalis Beckford (Brantford, Ontario), assisted by freshman Jon Werth (University Park, Md.), opened the scoring for Holy Cross with 31:54 remaining the first half, giving the Crusaders and early 1-0 advantage. The Holy Cross defense continued to dominate the Jaspers as a header by Miller knocked in his first career goal, assisted by Werth, giving the Crusaders a 2-0 cushion.

Holy Cross refused to give up going into the second half as junior Andreas Andrews (Los Angeles, Calif.) scored the Crusaders' third goal on a header into the low right side, assisted by Miller. With less than 12 minutes left on the clock, freshman Alex Schweitzer (Queens, N.Y.) scored his first career goal, assisted by senior Chidie Okpoebo (Chelmsford, Mass.) to secure the Crusaders first season win.

Sophomore Thomas Booth (Patchogue, N.Y.) earned his first career shutout, making four saves. Manhattan's John Ciano made four saves. Holy Cross outshot the Jaspers by a 14-5 margin.

The Crusaders will be on the road for their next game verses Maine on Wednesday, September 5 at 7:00 p.m. The team will return to action at Linda Johnson Smith Stadium on Saturday, September 8, at 7:00 p.m. hosting Quinnipiac.
