Field hockey falls to Stanford

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross field hockey team fell to Stanford, 3-0, Friday night at the Hart Turf Field.

Stanford improves to 5-0 with the win, while Holy Cross moves to 3-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The two teams played even in the opening quarter with Holy Cross holding the slim edge in shots and corners, 2-1.
  • Stanford struck first in the second quarter, netting a goal on a two-on-one opportunity just over four minutes into the frame.
  • The Cardinal extended their lead to 2-0 on a corner halfway through the third quarter, before tacking on one more in the fourth quarter.

BEYOND THE BOX:
  • Junior Mia McCloskey recorded six saves in net.
  • Holy Cross held the edge in corners, 8-6.

UP NEXT:
  • Holy Cross will round out its homestand on Sunday, Sept. 13 when they welcome Bryant to the Hart Turf Field at 11 a.m.
