Beckstein named to Preseason All-Patriot League team, Crusaders picked fifth in coaches poll

BETHLEHEM, Pa.- Senior defender Karenna Beckstein of the Holy Cross women's soccer team was named to the 2026 Preseason All-Patriot League Team, the league announced on Thursday, Aug. 6.

Beckstein started all 19 contests last season, tallying 1,715 minutes of play. The two-time captain scored two goals, including a penalty kick against New Hampshire and an olimpico in the regular season finale against Army. Beckstein served as a crucial member of the defense, helping lead the team to six shutouts and producing the most assists (5) and points (9) on the team. Beckstein ranked fifth in the league in assists, averaging .278 assists per game. The Massachusetts native had a season-high two assists against Marist in the 2-0 shutout victory on Aug. 31.

The league also announced that the Crusaders were picked fifth in the annual preseason coaches poll.

Army West Point claimed the top spot in the preseason poll, receiving six of the 10 first-place votes. Boston University was picked second after earning the remaining four first-place votes. Colgate was selected third, followed by Loyola Maryland, Holy Cross, Navy, Bucknell, Lafayette, American, and Lehigh.

The Crusaders finished last season with a 6-7-6 overall record and a 3-3-3 mark in league play, earning a berth in the PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Women's Soccer Championship and hosting a conference tournament match for the first time in program history. 

Holy Cross will open the 2026 season against Quinnipiac on Aug 12.
