Field hockey shutout by Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Holy Cross field hockey team fell to Fairfield, 4-0, Sunday afternoon at University Field.

Both teams moved to 1-1 on the season with the result.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The two teams played even in the first quarter, with Fairfield registering the lone shot on goal in the frame.
  • The Stags dominated the second quarter, netting three goals on eight shots.
  • Fairfield scored one more in the third quarter to bring the score to its final of 4-0.

BEYOND THE BOX:
  • Junior Mia McCloskey made five saves over the first three quarters before senior Madison Clark recorded two in the final 15 minutes.
  • Fairfield held the edge in penalty corners, 11-3, and shots, 18-6.

UP NEXT:
  • The Crusaders return home to begin a four-game homestand when they welcome Northeastern to the Hart Turf Field on Friday, Sept. 4 at 6 p.m.
