WORCESTER, Mass. — The Holy Cross baseball team announced its team awards for the 2026 season post practice on Thursday, May 7.
Senior
CJ Egrie highlighted the award recipients earning the Hop Riopel Award given by the Holy Cross Varsity Club to the Crusaders' most valuable player. Egrie was announced as the 2026 Patriot League Player of the Year, to the All-League First Team and Academic All-Patriot League. He became the first player in program history to earn Player of the Year honors twice.

Robert T. Curran Leadership Award
Created by Rick DeAngelis '70 in memory of Robert T. Curran, former baseball player, head coach and Hall of Famer who graduated from Holy Cross in 1948. It is given to the player or players who most exemplify the former "Son of Holy Cross."
Jaden Wywoda
The Ron Soucie Award
Created by his former teammates, Rick DeAngelis and Tom Kelly '67, the Ron Soucie Award is presented to the team's rookie of the year.
Owen Stelzer

Perry-Conlon Award
Created by Rick DeAngelis '70 for Ronald S. Perry '54 and James T. Conlon '69. It is given to the most outstanding pitcher on the Holy Cross baseball team.
Jaden Wywoda
Ray Dobens Award
Presented by the Varsity Club, the Ray Dobens Award was donated by the Dobens family to memorialize the baseball great. This trophy is given to the Crusaders' Most Improved Player. Dobens was a 1929 Holy Cross graduate who was signed by the Boston Red Sox.

Hop Riopel Award
The Riopel Award is awarded annually by the Holy Cross Varsity Club to the Crusaders' most valuable player. It is given in memory of Albert D. "Hop" Riopel was a 1924 Holy Cross graduate who earned a total of 11 letters in three different sports. He coached the baseball team from 1961-1966, posting an 82-43 record.
CJ Egrie
The No. 4 seed Crusaders (21-27, 13-13 PL) hit the road to take on regular-season co-champion, No. 1 Army West Point (28-18, 17-9 PL) in a best of three Patriot League Tournament semifinals series starting on Saturday, May 9 at 2 p.m. on Doubleday Field.
