FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team defeated non-conference opponent Fairfiled, 13-12, Saturday afternoon at Rafferty Stadium.

Holy Cross improves to 6-6 on the season with the win, while Fairfield falls to 4-8.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• A low scoring half led to a 3-3 tie at halftime, with sophomore Andrew Ottomanelli scoring in the first quarter and juniors Bo Webster and Sam McDonald and Ottomanelli scoring in the second quarter.
• McDonald opened the third quarter with his second goal of the game before Fairfield netted six in six minutes to take a 9-4 lead. 
• Freshman Aedan Cassidy, Webster, freshman Shane McDonnell and sophomore Matthew Marchetta found the back of the net before the end of the quarter to cut the Fairfield lead to 9-8.
• Fairfield extended the lead to 11-8 to open the fourth, but five-straight goals by junior Will Deo, two goals by sophomore Owen Tunney, senior Tyler Marmo, and Ottomanelli, to take a 13-11 with under four minutes to play.
• Fairfield scored one more with under two minutes to play, but it proved to not be enough.

BEYOND THE BOX:

• Senior JR Long recorded 14 saves in his sixth win of the season.
• Senior Michael Rincon tied for the game-lead with eight ground balls and four caused turnovers.
• Tunney recorded his second-straight game with 6+ points, and his sixth-straight game with 3+ points.

UP NEXT:

• Holy Cross returns to Patriot League play next week when they travel to Lewisburg, Pa. to face Bucknell.
• Opening faceoff is set for 11 a.m.
