No. 2 Women’s basketball cruises to victory over No. 10 Colgate in 2026 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Quarterfinals, will face No. 3 Army on Thursday

WORCESTER, Mass.- Senior forward Meg Cahalan led all scorers with 21 points in 24 minutes, guiding the No. 2 Holy Cross women's basketball team to a 72-36 win over No. 10 Colgate in the 2026 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Quarterfinals on Monday night at Hart Center Arena.

With the win, the Crusaders improve to 21-9 overall, while the Raiders end their season with a final overall record of 7-24. The Crusaders will host No. 3 Army West Point in the semifinals on Thursday, Mar. 12. Tickets can be purchased on the Holy Cross Ticket Office website or by calling 1-844-GO-CROSS.

Cahalan shot 9-of-14 from the field and 3-of-5 from three-point range, scoring 10 points in the first four minutes to spark a 13-4 opening run. The first team All-Patriot League honoree also added five rebounds, two steals and an assist.

Senior forward Simone Foreman dominated on both ends, posting her fourth double-double of the season with 10 points and 13 rebounds. She finished the night 4-of-7 from the floor, 2-of-2 from the line and tallied an assist.

Senior guard Mary-Elizabeth Donnelly reached double figures for the fourth consecutive game, scoring 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field and 3-of-4 from three-point range. She also notched five rebounds and four assists in 27 minutes of action.

Junior guard Kendall Eddy concluded the evening with 10 points on 5-of-12 shooting. The Patriot League all-defensive team recipient also collected four steals, three assists, and two rebounds

Colgate was led in scoring by Ella Meabon who scored 10 points on 3-of-14 shooting in the loss. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Crusaders opened the game on a 13-4 run in the first four minutes, powered by Cahalan, who shot 4-of-5 from the field with two threes.
  • Colgate limited Holy Cross to just six points over the next six minutes, but the Crusaders still ended the first quarter leading 19-8.
  • The Crusaders extended their lead to 30-14 ahead of the under-five media thanks to nine combined points from Cahalan (4) and Donnelly (5).
  • Holy Cross went 4-of-4 from the line over the final 3:08, and Foreman added a layup with 2:17 to play, giving the Crusaders a 36-18 lead at the break.
  • Cahalan carried her shooting success into the second half, drilling a three at the 9:10 mark and tallying seven points in the first five minutes to help extend Holy Cross' lead to 43-23.
  • Eddy and junior forward Simone Lewis each added a pair of layups, and Donnelly canned her third three of the day with 1:17 left in the third to grow the Crusaders lead to 56-31.
  • Foreman added four points over the remaining 1:02 giving Holy Cross a 60-31 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.
  • The Crusaders outscored Colgate 12-5 in the fourth quarter to secure a 72-36 victory.

  • Foreman grabbed 13 rebounds tonight, bringing her career total to 769 and moving her into sixth place all-time in program history, surpassing Phyllis Townsend '84 (762) and Maggie Fontana '05 (768).
  • Eddy posted double figures for the 10th time this season and the 21st time in her career.
