The Holy Cross women's ice hockey team will continue play in the Hockey East Tournament when it travels to No. 6 Connecticut for a semifinal round game on Tuesday, March 3. This marks the first time the Crusaders have ever advanced to the Hockey East semifinals. Tuesday's contest is set to begin at 6 p.m. live on ESPN+.
Holy Cross owns an overall mark of 19-12-3, and finished fourth in the Hockey East regular season standings with 37 points (10-11-3 record). The Crusaders are coming off a 5-4 victory over New Hampshire in the quarterfinals. Freshman forward
Violet Carroll currently leads the team in scoring with 25 points on nine goals and 16 assists. Senior forward
Alexia Moreau has added 13 goals and nine assists for 22 points, while freshman forward
Naemi Herzig has 22 points on seven goals and 15 assists. In net, senior goaltender
Abby Hornung stands 12-9-2 this season with a 1.70 goals against average and a .938 save percentage.
UConn enters the week with an overall mark of 25-8-2, and finished second in the Hockey East regular season standings with 53 points (17-6-1 record). In the quarterfinal round, the Huskies defeated Maine 6-1. Senior forward Kyla Josifovic leads the team in scoring with 12 goals and 23 assists for 35 points, while sophomore forward Claire Murdoch has added 33 points on 12 goals and 21 assists. In net, senior goaltender Tia Chan stands 24-7-2 with a 1.61 goals against average and a .948 save percentage.
The winner of the Holy Cross-UConn match-up will move on to play in the Hockey East championship game on Saturday, March 7.
