WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross men's ice hockey freshman goaltender
Danick Leroux was named Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league Wednesday afternoon.
Leroux held RIT to five goals in the two overtime games in the Atlantic Hockey Quarterfinals, making 66 saves over 132:10 minutes in net. Leroux finished the weekend set with a 2.27 goals-against average and .930 save percentage, which ranked fifth and fourth, respectively, in the league this weekend.
A two-time Goaltender of the Week and three-time Rookie of the Week this season, Leroux enters the Atlantic Hockey Semifinal Round with a 12-7-1 record, 2.62 goals-against average, and .906 save percentage.
Leroux and the #5 Crusaders (18-16-2, 14-10-2 AHA) will hit the road to face No. 1 Bentley in the Atlantic Hockey Semifinal round this weekend. The best-of-three set at the Bentley Arena is scheduled for Friday, March 13 at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 15 at 6 p.m., and if necessary, Sunday, March 16 at 6 p.m.
