WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior
Charlotte Sonntag tallied one goal and one assist, but the 13th-ranked Holy Cross women's ice hockey team was defeated by New Hampshire 3-2 at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex. The Crusaders fall to 18-10-2 on the season and 10-9-2 in Hockey East, while the Wildcats improve to 15-12-3 overall and 9-9-2 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• New Hampshire opened the scoring in the first period on a goal by Alyson Hush.
• In the second period, Sonntag tied up the game at 1-1, with assists from senior
Lane Lewis and junior
Emily Crovo.
• But the Wildcats came back with goals from Danika Botterill and Kelly Harty later in the period to take a 3-1 lead.
• With 6:30 remaining in the third period, junior
Reghan Chadwick scored to make it a one-goal game.
• But that was as close as Holy Cross would get, as New Hampshire held on for the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Senior
Abby Hornung made 31 saves on the night.
• The Crusaders finished the game with a 35-34 advantage in shots on goal.
SENIOR NIGHT:
• Prior to the game, six senior members of the program who will be concluding their collegiate careers at the end of the 2025-2026 season were honored in a special ceremony.
