Warren, Boston lead men’s basketball to road win at Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Led by junior guard/forward Gabe Warren and sophomore guard Tyler Boston, the Holy Cross men's basketball team earned a regular-season sweep of Bucknell picking up a 72-63 win on the road at Sojka Pavilion Sunday afternoon.

Warren scored 15 of his game-high 21 points in the first half for the Crusaders (10-19, 5-11 PL). He secured seven rebounds, three assists and three steals and was an unblemished 8-for-8 (100 percent) at the free throw line. Boston produced 19 points and made big bucket after big bucket down the stretch for Holy Cross as 13 of his 19 markers came in the second stanza. He secured seven rebounds and handed out four assists.

Bucknell (8-12, 5-11 PL) was led by Achile Spadone who had a 20 point and 10 rebound double-double.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Warren gave the Crusaders their first lead at 3-2 canning a corner triple. A drive from the top of the point from junior forward Declan Ryan, a pair of freebies from Warren and a junior guard John St. Germain III trifecta expanded the lead to 17-10 with 12:10 left in the half.
  • A 17-4 Bucknell run opened up a two possession lead 27-21 with 5:16 to go in the half. Holy Cross closed the half on a 10-3 run to lead 31-30 at the break.
  • Both teams swapped three-pointers just before the under 16 media in the second half which tied the score at 40 all. Back-to-back triples from Boston and sophomore forward Aidan Richard with a Warren strong take to the hoop pushed the Crusaders back into the lead at 48-42 with 10:24 to go.
  • Seven straight by the hosts put them back in front, but St. Germain III and Boston countered with corner threes to jump back in the lead at 54-49. Bucknell connected on a transition three following a Crusader turnover to level the score at 56 all with 4:34 left.
  • Coming out of timeout, Boston sank another triple to grow the score to 59-56. This was part of a 16-7 game closing scoring stretch for the Crusaders with freshman forward Aiden Disu dropping eight points and Boston seven during the run.
