FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Holy Cross men's ice hockey team fell to Sacred Heart, 5-2, Saturday evening at the Martire Family Arena.

Holy Cross moves to 14-16-2 (12-10-2 AHA) with the loss, while Sacred Heart improves to 17-12-3 (13-8-3 AHA) with the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Junior David Hymovitch got the Crusaders on the board first, tipping in a shot by senior Mack Oliphant with just under eight minutes to play in the opening period on a 4-on-4 opportunity.
• Senior Devin Phillips extended the lead to 2-0 with a power play goal six minutes later, cleaning up a rebound off a shot by sophomore Matt Kursonis.
• Sacred Heart got on the board and took the lead thanks to three goals in 1:15, two of which were on the power play.
• The Pioneers extended their lead to 4-2 at the 11:02 mark of the third period with another power play goal, and potted an empty netter with 1:15 to play in regulation.

BEYOND THE BOX:

• Junior Connor MacKenzie recorded 22 saves in the contest.
• Kursonis extended his league-leading point streak to eight games with his assist on the second Crusader goal.

UP NEXT:

• Holy Cross will return home for their final two games of the regular season on Friday, Feb. 27 and Saturday, Feb. 28 against RIT.
• Friday night the Crusaders will celebrate the class of 2026 with senior night at 7 p.m.
• Saturday night is the program's Alumni Day, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the 2006 Atlantic Hockey Championship team, also at 7 p.m..
