WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's ice hockey team defeated RIT, 5-1, Friday night at the Hart Center Rink.

With the win, Holy Cross improves to 15-16-2 (13-10-2 AHA), while RIT moves to 17-14-2 (13-10-2 AHA) with the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Senior Jack Seymour wasted no time getting the Crusaders on the board, knocking in a rebound off a shot by senior Devin Phillips 30 seconds into the contest.
• RIT tied the game with their lone goal of the night just under seven minutes into the second period.
• Junior Jack Stockfish picked up his first goal of the night with 3:45 to play in the middle frame, picking up a rebound off a shot by Seymour and flipping the puck over the Tigers' netminder.
• Senior Timothy Heinke extended the Crusader lead to 3-1 just over a minute later, completing a give-and-go play with senior Michael Abgrall.
• Stockfish scored the first of two goals on a five minute power play opportunity three minutes into the final period of regulation, sending a wrist shot off a pass from sophomore Matt Kursonis into the far side of the net.
• Phillips scored the second goal of the extended power play two minutes later, tipping in a shot by Stockfish.

BEYOND THE BOX:

• Freshman Danick Leroux made 17 saves in his ninth win of the season, while senior Louden Hogg recorded three in relief.
• Kursonis led both sides with ten faceoff wins, followed by Stockfish, who recorded nine.
• Junior David Hymovitch recorded a game-leading three blocked shots, as Holy Cross blocked 18 shots to RIT's 11.
• Prior to the matchup, Holy Cross recognized their eight seniors as part of their Senior Night celebration: Louden Hogg, Lachlan Getz, Timothy Heinke, Michael Abgrall, Matt DeBoer, Devin Phillips, Mack Oliphant, and Jack Seymour.
