WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior
Annabel Brennan scored a pair of goals, but the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team was defeated by Albany 9-6 at Kuzniewski Field. The Crusaders fall to 0-2 on the year, while the Great Danes begin the season at 1-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Albany held a 3-2 lead midway though the first quarter, before scoring four of the next five goals to take a 7-3 halftime lead.
• After neither team scored during the third quarter, junior
Jenn Prince scored early in the fourth to make it a 7-4 game.
• The Great Danes netted the next two goals, before Brennan and senior
Kate Burns scored for Holy Cross to trim the deficit to 9-6 with 4:02 left to play.
• But the Crusaders were unable to score again, as Albany held on for the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Senior
Racheli Levy-Smith totaled six draw controls, four caused turnovers and three ground balls on the afternoon.
• Burns finished the game with one goal and one assist.
• The Great Danes were led by Kloey Roos with four goals.
UP NEXT:
• Holy Cross will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 14, when it plays host to Stonehill at 3 p.m.
