Halligan earns second consecutive Patriot League Midfielder of the Week honor

WORCESTER, Mass.- Holy Cross women's soccer fifth-year midfielder Sam Halligan earned Patriot League Midfielder of the Week honors for the second-straight week on Monday, Nov. 2, recognizing from Oct. 26-Nov. 1.

Halligan picked up her third career Patriot League weekly award after scoring the deciding goal in a 1-0 victory over American on Sunday, Nov. 1. Following a scoreless first half, Halligan wasted little time putting the Crusaders on the board, drilling a shot into the top-right corner of the goal in the 46th minute.

The goal gave Halligan her seventh of the season, 11th as a Crusader and the 22nd of her collegiate career. Despite missing five games of the season with injury, Halligan still ranks third in the Patriot League for total goals (7) and leads the league in total points per game (1.33) and goals per game (.583).

Holy Cross held on for the victory, earning its eighth win of the season, the program's highest single-season total since 2014. The Crusaders have also qualified for the Patriot League playoffs in consecutive seasons for the first time since the 1999-2000.

Halligan was honored as the Patriot Midfielder of the Week last week after scoring the equalizing goal in a 1-1 draw against Boston University on Friday, Oct. 23.

She was also recognized on Aug. 24 after posting seven points across two games to help lead the Crusaders to early season victories over Stonehill and Brown. That effort also earned her a spot on the TopDrawerSoccer National Team of the Week on Aug. 26
