WORCESTER, Mass. — Holy Cross field hockey sophomore Rachel Egan was named Patriot League Defender of the Week while freshman Marianna MacLean was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week, as voted on by the Patriot League coaches and announced by the league offices Monday afternoon.

Egan received her first career Patriot League honor following the Crusaders' 2-1 win over Bucknell on Saturday. Egan recorded a defensive save in the second quarter to preserve the 1-0 Holy Cross lead going into halftime. With ten seconds remaining in regulation,  Egan scored the game-winning goal on a direct shot during a corner opportunity to lift the Crusaders over the Bison for the first time since 2016.

MacLean was named Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season, scoring three points in Saturday's matchup. MacLean opened the scoring for both sides six minutes into the opening quarter before picking up an assist on Egan's game-winner.

Holy Cross (6-3, 2-1 PL) will travel to Boston University on Friday, Oct. 9 for a 6 p.m. matchup.
