WORCESTER, Mass.- Holy Cross head women's basketball coach Candice Green has announced the team's captains for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
Seniors Kendall Eddy, Janie Bachmann, Hannah Griffin and Simone Lewis have all been selected as first-time captains to lead the defending Patriot League champions this season.
"We're excited to announce Janie, Simone, Kendall and Hannah as our captains," said coach Green. "Each brings a unique perspective and set of experiences to this group, and together, they are ready to take ownership of this team and build upon the tradition of Holy Cross basketball. We're excited to see the leadership they will bring throughout the season."
Eddy, a guard, made 30 starts across 33 appearances last season, playing a pivotal role in the Crusaders' title run. She averaged 7.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game while logging 28.4 minutes per contest and scoring in double figures on 10 occasions. The Haverhill, Mass. native made a name for herself on the defensive end of the floor, earning Patriot League All-Defensive Team honors and ranked second in the Patriot League with 70 total steals. Eddy has also been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll each of her past two seasons on The Hill.
Green on Eddy: "Kendall is our Swiss Army knife. She knows how and when to light a fire under people or put an arm around them."
Bachmann, a guard, appeared in all 33 contests last season, making three starts. She averaged 5.7 points and 3.4 rebounds in 16.7 minutes per game. She also recorded 26 steals and 22 blocks, with four double-figure scoring performances and nine games with five or more rebounds. Bachmann is a three-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll recipient.
Green on Bachmann: "Janie is our intensity, she fully understands our standards and holds her teammates to that level every day."
Griffin, a guard, appeared in all 33 games last season, making three starts. She averaged 3.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists across 21.1 minutes per game, providing valuable depth in the Crusaders' backcourt for the past two seasons. Griffin scored a career-high 12 points against Navy, the 2025-26 Patriot League regular-season champions, on Jan. 21. Away from the hardwood, Griffin was elected president of the Holy Cross Student-Athlete Advisory Council for the 2026-27 academic year and is a two-time Patriot League Honor Roll selection.
Green on Griffin: "Hannah is our coach on the floor, setting the bar defensively and helping to keep us balanced."
Lewis, a forward, has played in 42 games during her time on The Hill, including 22 appearances a season ago. She tallied 30 total points and 33 rebounds, bringing valued size to the Crusaders' rotation. Lewis off the court, serves as a co-chair for the Holy Cross Black Student Union and has earned Patriot League Academic Honor Roll recognition each of her past three years.
Green on Lewis: "Simone is our energy and brings a positive attitude at all times, keeping us motivated and composed."
Holy Cross tips off the 2026-27 season on Monday, Nov. 2, traveling to Boston College for a 6:00 p.m. showdown.
