WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior
Reghan Chadwick scored her fifth goal of the season, but the 13th-ranked Holy Cross women's ice hockey team was defeated by No. 6 Northeastern 2-1 at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex. The Crusaders fall to 18-8-2 on the season and 10-7-2 in Hockey East, while the Huskies improve to 21-6-1 overall and 16-1-1 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Northeastern opened the scoring midway through the first period on a power play goal by Ella Lloyd.
• The score remained the same until the 6:22-mark of the third period, when a power play goal from Morgan Jackson put the Huskies up 2-0.
• With less than two minutes remaining, Chadwick cut the deficit to 2-1 when she knocked in a pass from junior
Emily Crovo after Holy Cross had pulled its goaltender.
• But that was as close as the Crusaders would get, as Northeastern held on for the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Senior
Abby Hornung made 25 saves on the night.
• The Huskies finished the game with a 27-22 advantage in shots on goal.
NEXT UP:
• Holy Cross returns home on Friday, Feb. 6, when it plays host to Boston College at 2 p.m.
