WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's ice hockey shut out Army, 3-0, Friday night at the Hart Center Rink.

With the win, Holy Cross improves to 12-12-2 (10-6-2 AHA), while Army moves to 10-12-5 (5-11-3 AHA).

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Neither team was able to score in the first period, which saw Army hold the slight edge in shots, 12-8.
• Senior Matt DeBoer broke the scoreless tie with 3:17 remaining in the second period, jamming in a loose puck in front of the net on the power play.
• Just over two minutes into the third period, sophomore Owen Kim forced a turnover in the corner, finding sophomore Jarrod Smith for the quick pass to junior Ty Gagno. Gagno collected the puck and sent a wrist shot over the shoulder of the unsuspecting netminder for the 2-0 lead.
• With the goaltender pulled in favor of the extra attacker, DeBoer forced a turnover at the offensive blue line and sent the puck into the empty net to extend the lead to 3-0.

BEYOND THE BOX:

• Freshman Danick Leroux recorded 33 saves in his second shutout of the season.
• Holy Cross held Army to 0-for-5 on the power play.
• Junior Jack Stockfish led both sides with 15 faceoff wins as Holy Cross held the edge in faceoff wins, 41-32.

• Holy Cross rounds out their homestand by welcoming Bentley to the Hart Center Rink on Friday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m.
