WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's ice hockey team fell in overtime, 3-2, to Army on Thursday night at the Hart Center Rink.

Holy Cross moves to 11-12-2 (9-6-2 AHA), while Army improves to 10-11-5 (5-10-3 AHA).

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Army got on the board with the only goal of the first period six minutes into the contest.
• Senior Michael Abgrall tied the game at 1-1 just over four minutes into the second period. Senior Timothy Heinke skated the puck up the ice before sending a backhand pass across the mouth of the goal to an open Abgrall for the deflection into the back of the net.
• Senior Matt DeBoer put the Crusaders in the lead with 16 minutes to play in regulation with his fifth power play goal of the season. Forcing a turnover along the boards, junior Jack Stockfish found DeBoer in front of the goal for the quick tip over the shoulder of the Black Knight's netminder.
• Army tied the game with eight minutes to play, and netted the overtime winner just under two minutes into the extra frame.

BEYOND THE BOX:

• Senior Louden Hogg made 29 saves in the contest, 14 of which came in the first period.
• Sophomore Owain Johnston tied for the game-lead with three blocked shots on the night as Holy Cross blocked 21 shots to Army's eight.
• DeBoer moved into second in Atlantic Hockey with his fifth power play goal of the season.

• The two teams will meet again tomorrow night, Friday, Jan. 29, at 7 p.m. to round out the series.
