WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's ice hockey team fell to Air Force, 5-2, Saturday night at the Hart Center Rink.

Air Force improves to 11-11-2 (7-8-1 AHA) with the win, while Holy Cross falls to 11-9-2 (9-3-2 AHA) with the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Air Force netted the lone goal of the first period with just under five minutes to play.
• Freshman Quinn McCall tied the game at 1-1 three minutes into the second period with his second goal of the season, tipping in a shot by junior Brody Gagno.
• Air Force regained the lead 1:23 later, before sophomore Matt Kursonis tied the game again with a power play goal 8:03 into the period, sending a rebound off a shot by senior Michael Abgrall into the back of the net.
• Air Force took the lead back with a power play goal with just over five minutes to play in the middle period, before extending the lead to 4-2 with another power play goal 5:45 into the third period. The Falcons capped the scoring with a shorthanded strike with 5:20 to play in regulation.

BEYOND THE BOX:

• Freshman Danick Leroux recorded 32 saves in the contest, including 12 in the third period.
• Holy Cross held the edge in blocked shots, 17-8, led by junior Ty Gagno and sophomores Owain Johnston and Noah Eyre who recorded three each.
• The two sides were even at the face-off dot, finishing with 37 wins each.

UP NEXT:

• Holy Cross will travel to Robert Morris for a two-game set on Friday, Jan. 23 and Saturday, Jan. 25.
• Both games are set for 7 p.m. at Clearview Arena in Moon Township, Pa. and will stream live on FloHockey.
