WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior goaltender
Brooke Loranger posted her second career shutout, as the Holy Cross women's ice hockey team defeated Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute 3-0 at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex. The Crusaders improve to 2-0 on the season, while the Engineers fall to 0-4 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Holy Cross opened the scoring midway through the first period, when freshman
Ella Malloy scored her first career goal on a long shot from just inside the blue line. Senior
Lane Lewis and freshman
Violet Carroll had the assists on the play.
• Later in the first period, senior
Alexia Moreau knocked in a pass from freshman
Brooklyn Deck to put the Crusaders up 2-0. Junior
Abby Garvin added the second assist on the goal.
• Holy Cross then iced the game in the third period, with junior
Reghan Chadwick scoring off a feed from junior
Lulu Rourke.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• The Crusaders finished the night with a 33-22 advantage in shots on goal.
• Loranger totaled 22 saves on the evening.
• Malloy's goal was the first of her collegiate career.
• Holy Cross improves to 2-0 for the first time since the 2016-2017 season.

• Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 4, when it travels to Delaware for a 2 p.m. game.
