BALTIMORE, Md. – The Holy Cross women's soccer team opened its Patriot League schedule at Loyola (Md.) on Saturday afternoon. For the first time since 2019, the Crusaders tied 1-1 with the Greyhounds.
IN GOAL:
- Holy Cross: Aubrey Haesche (T, 3-2-3), 5 saves
- Loyola (Md.): Hannah Goetzer (T, 2-0-3), 0 saves
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Neither team scored in the first half.
- The Greyhounds led the Crusaders 7-2 in shots and Holy Cross had the 1-0 advantage in corners through 45 minutes.
- At 67:28, forwards Riley Grable and Abby Cushing maneuvered the ball to the top of the box, where senior midfielder Olivia Perez fired in a laser for the 1-0 lead. The Greyhounds answered back with the equalizer at 73:21, netted by Ava Blizzard. The two battled it out until the final whistle for the 1-1 draw, the first time since 2019.
- Loyola (Md.) led Holy Cross 11-9 in shots and 6-1 in shots on goal, while the Crusaders were ahead 3-1 in corners to conclude the game.
UP NEXT:
- The Crusaders (3-4-3, 0-0-1) return to action on Saturday, Sept. 27, for a 1:00 pm kickoff against Bucknell (2-5-2, 0-0-0) for an Alumnae Day game at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium in Worcester, Mass.
