Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Crusaders suffer last-minute heartbreaker to Rhode Island

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's soccer team hosted Rhode Island (URI) on Sunday afternoon for the Crusader Community Festival game. A last-minute goal by URI lifted the Rams to a 1-0 victory over the Crusaders.

IN GOAL:

  • Holy Cross: Aubrey Haesche (L, 3-2-2), six saves
  • URI: Daniella Eden (W, 5-2-0), four saves

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Neither team scored and Haesche made four saves to Eden's three in the first half. 
  • The Rams led the Crusaders 8-4 in shots while Holy Cross had the 3-1 advantage in corners through 45 minutes.
  • With a minute and four seconds left in the second half, the Rams' Lily Camacho netted the game-winner, near midfield, for the 1-0 win.
  • URI led Holy Cross 17-7 in shots, 7-5 in shots on goal and 6-4 in corners to conclude the game.

UP NEXT:

  • The Crusaders (3-4-2, 0-0) will travel to Loyola (3-2-3, 0-0) for the Patriot League Opener on Saturday, Sept. 20, at Ridley Athletic Complex in Baltimore, Md., at 1:00 pm.
