WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's soccer team hosted Syracuse for a Sunday afternoon non-conference competition and the Gateways First Year Orientation Event. The Orange took the 3-1 win over the Crusaders.

IN GOAL:

• Holy Cross: Antriana Mila (L, 0-1), four saves
• Syracuse: Shea Vanderbosch (W, 3-1), one save

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Late in the first half, Syracuse's Maya McDermott scored at 28:35 for the 1-0 lead. The Orange doubled their lead with an unassisted goal by Ashley Rauch at 34:17 to end the half with the 2-0 score.
• The Orange led the Crusaders 7-4 in shots while each team drew three corners a piece through 45 minutes.
• The Crusaders cut Syracuse's lead in half at 58:36 with an unassisted goal by senior forward Riley Grable off a free kick. The Orange extended their lead on a Rauch penalty kick goal at 76:38 for the 3-1 result.
• Syracuse led Holy Cross 14-10 in shot and 7-2 in shots on goal while the Crusaders had the 5-3 advantage in corners to conclude the game.

UP NEXT:

• The Crusaders (0-3-1) will host New Hampshire (0-1-1) on Thursday, Aug. 28, for a 6:00 pm kickoff at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium in Worcester, Mass.
