ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Senior
Ella Kittredge scored a team-high four goals, but the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team was defeated by No. 22 Navy 19-8 at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The Crusaders fall to 8-4 on the season and 4-1 in the Patriot League, while the Midshipmen improve to 9-4 overall and 4-1 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The game was close early on, and Navy held a 5-3 lead after the first quarter of play.
• The margin was still at two (7-5) with 10 minutes left in the second quarter, before the Midshipmen ran off six straight goals to take a 13-5 halftime lead.
• Holy Cross would get no closer than seven goals in the second half, as Navy eventually pulled away to win by 11.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Senior
Sally Zinsner tallied two points on one goal and one assist.
• Junior
Mackenzie Creagh made nine saves in net.
• Maggie DeFabio led the Midshipmen with seven points on six goals and one assist.
UP NEXT:
• The Crusaders will return to action on Saturday, April 12, when they play host to Lehigh at 1 p.m.
