Second half come back falls short for men's lacrosse against Lehigh

WORCESTER, Mass. — The Holy Cross men's lacrosse team fell to Lehigh, 10-6, Saturday afternoon at Kuzniewski Field.
 
Holy Cross moves to 3-9 (1-5 PL) with the loss, while Lehigh moves to 4-7 (3-2 PL) with the win.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Lehigh got out to a quick 5-0 lead in the first quarter.
  • Sophomore Bo Webster got the Crusaders on the board just over two minutes into the second quarter, but a three-goal run gave Lehigh the 8-1 lead going into the halftime break.
  • Lehigh opened the third quarter with two goals, but a three-goal run from Holy Cross cut the Mountain Hawk lead to 10-4 at the end of the third. Senior Matt Carbonell netted the first goal of his collegiate career, sophomore Jon-Luke Duley scored his first of the game, and senior Michael Bonomo netted a breakaway shot to close out the quarter.
  • Junior Will Messineo and sophomore Jude Lynch cut the Lehigh lead to 10-6 in the final quarter of regulation.
 
BEYOND THE BOX:
  • Junior JR Long recorded 13 saves in the contest.
  • Senior Luke Shoemaker led both sides with three caused turnovers.
 
UP NEXT:
  • Holy Cross will travel to Baltimore, Md. to face Loyola (Md.) on Saturday, April 12.
  • Game time is set for 1 p.m.
